South Korea succeed to cultivate salmon, fish species that are now mostly imported from other countries.
Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Affairs said on Monday (07/11/2016) that about 500 tons of farmed salmon in the waters off the northwest Goseong, Gangwon province will start shipping on the date. 8 November.
South Korea is the first country in the region that cultivated salmon successfully.

Salmon consumption in South Korea increased about three-fold in the last 5 years from 12 thousand tons in 2010, to 34 thousand tons last year. Currently South Korea relies on imports 32 thousand tons of salmon.
