A new study shows that South Korea has the highest rate of online shopping around the world.
Global market research company Kantar TNS said in its 2016 “Connected Life” report that 81 percent of South Koreans answered they have shopped online, the highest rate among countries studied. The finding was made in a survey of 70-thousand Internet users in 57 countries.
Norway came in second with 78 percent, followed by Brazil and the U.K.
In South Korea, the rate of online shoppers in all age groups was higher than the global average. In particular, the rate among shoppers aged between 55 and 64 stood at 82 percent, 35 percentage points higher than the international average.
Compared to a similar survey conducted in 2014, online purchases of food, sanitary goods and detergents and cleansers increased by margins ranging from six to 13 percentage points. But purchases of clothing, music and technology devices remained similar or edged down.
