The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries has unveiled a plan to promote eco-friendly aquaculture with increased financial support.
The plan involves an investment of 31-point-two billion won, or nearly 26 million U.S. dollars, in 15 environment-friendly mariculture projects.
About a third of the investment will go to fish farming research and development facilities in North and South Chungcheong provinces and Jeju Island.
The ministry said that in particular, it will support the ornamental fish industry and work harder to cultivate aquatic organisms in an eco-friendly and safe way.
