South Korean President Park Geun-hye and Indonesian President Joko Widodo agreed to increase bilateral investment, trade and cooperation in sectors that could serve as new economic growth engines, including the construction sector.

The agreement on Monday came during a summit. Widodo is on a state-visit to South Korea.

Park and Widodo signed eleven MOUs, including those pledging to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector, agreements allowing South Korean firms to participate in the construction of Indonesia’s infrastructure and promises to tighten cooperation in other possible growth engines including spatial data, traffic and the maritime industry.

The MOUs could lead to construction contracts for South Korean builders worth up to six-point-seven billion U.S. dollars, or about seven-point-nine trillion Korean won, including the MOU on the construction of Indonesia’s light railways, which could be worth two-point-one billion dollars.

The MOUs on the energy sector are valued at an estimated 600 million dollars.

President Park hosted a state dinner in honor of the visiting Indonesian leader after their summit.
