A new survey shows that foreign tourists look forward to trying South Korea’s street food the most among things they wish to do in the country.
The Korea Tourism Organization(KTO) on Tuesday released the result of its latest survey on four-thousand-369 foreign tourists.
Respondents were asked to give multiple answers to questions in six categories, including history, culture and food.
Results showed that the largest number of respondents, or 54-point-two percent, chose eating street food as an activity they want to do most in South Korea.
The second most anticipated experience was staying in traditional “hanok” housing, followed by visiting traditional markets and public saunas, and trying on traditional Korean clothing hanbok.
The results showed that English speakers wanted to eat street food and visit an ancient palace or an outdoor market, while Japanese people favored the experiences of staying in hanok, getting a medical checkup at Oriental medicine clinics and watching the sunset or sunrise. Chinese tourists said that they looked forward to experiencing hanok, hanbok and street food.
Lee Tae-hyuk, a senior KTO official, said that his agency will produce special articles and video clips to promote the 50 selected activities through its Web site and other online platforms, as part of its efforts to improve the quality of the nation’s tourism and enhance the satisfaction of foreign tourists.
