A recent study has shown that more than 70 percent of South Korean billionaires inherited their wealth.
A study by the U.S.-based Peterson Institute for International Economics(PIIE) said 74-point-one percent of South Korean billionaires were heirs to their wealth. The study analyzed the Forbes list of billionaires from 1996 to 2015.
This puts South Korea fifth on the list of countries with the highest portion of billionaires who inherited wealth. South Korea’s 74-point-one percent is also more than twice the world average of 30-point-four percent.
Finland and Kuwait had larger proportions of billionaires who inherited wealth at 100 percent. Denmark had a ratio of 83-point-three percent while the United Arab Emirates had a proportion of 75 percent.
