Chinese tourists spent about 500 billion won in South Korea around a major Chinese holiday from October first to seventh.
According to Shinhan Card’s analysis of data of China Union Pay on Sunday, Chinese travelers spent about 490 billion won in South Korea using their credit cards during a period of three weeks including the weeklong Chinese National Day holiday.
That represents an on-year increase of 22-point-nine percent, compared to a one percent increase in previous years.
This year, credit card spending by Chinese tourists marked an on-year increase of 58 percent and 34 percent during the week before and after the holiday week, respectively.
