The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea(AMCHAM) says it will actively publicize the benefits of the Korea-U.S. free trade agreement.
AMCHAM Chairman James Kim said in a New Year news conference in Seoul Wednesday that now is the best time to promote the positive effects of the trade pact for a win-win partnership between South Korea and the U.S.
He asked that efforts be made to convince multinational corporations of South Korea’s strength as a good investment destination.
The American businessman’s remarks come amid rising concerns over possible renegotiations of the Seoul-Washington trade treaty and mounting trade pressure from the U.S., following the launch of the Donald Trump administration.
Kim said that the trade accord has contributed to the economic development of the two countries and will lay the foundation for further developments.
An AMCHAM delegation will soon visit Washington to convey its support for the trade agreement to the U.S. administration and Congress.
