A Korean food fair will be held this week in Jakarta, Indonesia which is considered to be the world’s largest halal food market.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on Wednesday that it organized the 2016 Indonesia Jakarta K-Food Fair which will open from Thursday to Sunday under the supervision of the Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation.
Given Indonesia’s growing interest toward South Korea and Korean food thanks to the Korean Wave, Seoul is hoping that Indonesia will serve as a bridgehead in targeting the world’s major halal food markets.
Indonesia, which has the fourth-largest population in the world, has posted an average of six percent in annual economic growth. Eighty-five percent of its population is Muslim.
