The Ministry of Land, infrastructure and Transport says over 26-hundred vehicles of German automakers Volkswagen and Audi will be recalled in South Korea.
Ministry officials said Tuesday that two-thousand-473 Volkswagen Touaregs produced from February tenth, 2011 to January ninth this year will be recalled due to malfunctions in the braking system that could prevent the driver from stopping the vehicle.
Officials added that Volkswagen’s Tiguans and the Audi Q5s have faulty airbags that could hurl metal shrapnel at the driver and passenger in the front seat.
One-hundred-15 Tiguans built between January 14th to February fourth last year and 29 Q5s produced between January 13th to February third last year are subject to the recall.
The Transport Ministry also urged drivers of cars that have airbags produced by Japan’s Takata Corp. to adhere to the government’s recall orders.
Automobiles with Takata airbags are being recalled worldwide due to fears that the airbags could explode and send shrapnel at passengers.
