Fishery products from the southeastern coastal city of Tongyeong will be introduced at the White House as part of a promotional campaign.

The city in South Gyeongsang Province said on Monday that it will hold promotional events featuring local oysters, sea squirts, eels and anchovy products from Thursday to Sunday in Washington and New York.

The city government has held similar events abroad every year since 2010 to promote sales of its fishery products.

The organizing committee will hold events at major government offices in the U.S. including the White House, the State Department and the Library of Congress, inviting visitors to taste Tongyeong oysters.

The promotional team led by Tongyeong Mayor Kim Dong-jin will also seek ways to increase exports of anchovy products to the U.S.
