A new survey has found that KBS ranked first in terms of its influence among South Korean media outlets.

The committee on probing media concentration under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism carried out the survey on media influence of newspapers, television and radio programs as well as Internet news sources last year.

The survey found that KBS ranked most influential among all media outlets, taking up 17-and-half percent of the related market. The Chosun Ilbo daily came in second with eleven-point-one percent, followed by Yonhap News Agency with nine-point-nine percent.

In terms of television broadcasters’ market share on current affairs-related programs or news, KBS topped the ranking with 29-point-nine percent, followed by MBC and TV Chosun.

The latest survey is the second of its kind to be carried out following one in 2013.
