South Korea’s leading companies are hanging the national flag, known as Taegeugki, on their office buildings to mark the 70th anniversary of Korea’s liberation from Japan’s colonial occupation.

Samsung Group on Wednesday hung a large-sized Taegeugki at the Samsung Life office building in Seoul’s Seocho district, bearing the message “United, we are forever South Korea.”

Hyundai Motor Group installed a large placard bearing a Taegeugki mark in its office building in the district of Gye-dong in Seoul.

LG Group put up banners marking the 70th anniversary of the nation’s liberation in key buildings, including the LG Twin Towers in Yeouido.

S-Oil hung a large national flag in its office building in Mapo and decided to take part in the government’s move to designate next Friday as a one-time national holiday.

The companies’ moves come as national flags have been hung on 30 landmark buildings in the capital city, including the Seoul Government Complex, the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts and the U.S. Embassy to mark Liberation Day.
