TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Director General for National Export Development, Nus Nuzulia Ishak, said that Indonesia will utilize ASEAN-Korean Centre to enter export market in South Korea.

Indonesia also targets investment, cultural, and tourism cooperation. “Indonesia could gain benefit from Korea’s more integrated market openness, which will eventually boost export,” Nus toldTempo on Sunday.

ASEAN-Korean Centre is ASEAN-Korea cooperation center in trade, investment, tourism, and culture funded by South Korea. The Indonesian government hopes ASEAN-Korean Centre program could boost economic growth of members of ASEAN and Korea. According to Nuzulia, in 2014 fiscal year, the South Korean government’s contribution to this program increased 10 percent to 6.6 billion won or US$6.254 million.

Indonesia is currently making efforts to increase the competitiveness of furniture, textile, processed food and beverage, and leather products that will be marketed in South Korea. Trade volume of Indonesia and South Korea in January to November 2013 period reached US$21.098 billion.
