VIVAnews- Deputy Minister of Trade, Bayu Krisnamurthi, said that the law of trade agreed by Indonesian Parliament on plenary meeting yesterday also rules the protection for national behalf in international trading.
It is stated on the 67th clause of Trading enactment that the government could defend any exporters whose goods are valued damaging their trade partners, any national export goods that are alleged for dumping or as subsided commodity, any national exports goods that are damaged due to trade policy applied by trade partner, and national policies that could possibly be opposed by another country.
On the other hand, government could also impose antidumping act to prevent any insufficient trade practice as well as the safety act to overcome the sharp increase in import quota.
“This law will be our guide to apply protection and custody of trading if in case there might come sort of problems or situations in international trade”, Bayu said.
Bayu also asserted that by enforcing trade law, the government still respects market mechanism while the national prominence will not subject to market domination.
“We just can’t let it dominate the mechanism of trade. We take step for public behalf. We attempt to achieve a fair market instead of free market. Once again, it’s fair trade not free trade”, he said.
