The Korea Electric Power Corporation(KEPCO) announced that it secured a massive nuclear business deal in the United Arab Emirates(UAE) that is expected to post 54 trillion won, or 49-point-four billion dollars’ worth of profits over the next 60 years.

According to the state-run electricity provider, it signed a deal with the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation(ENEC) on Thursday to operate nuclear plants being built in the Middle East country.

The deal comes four years after South Korea earned its first overseas nuclear plant-related deal with the UAE, under which it agreed to build the plants for the UAE.

Construction of the first nuclear plant in the UAE began in July 2012 and its nuclear reactor was installed in May last year. It is scheduled to be complete by May next year.

The construction of four other nuclear plants in the UAE, also commissioned by South Korea, will be complete by 2020.

The company noted that Thursday’s deal is worth more than the construction of the nuclear plants. It said it will create an economic benefit equivalent to the export of two-point-28 million cars or 52 million mobile phones.
