South Korea’s total population exceeding 50 million people for the first time, and households inhabited one man emerged as a force households representing South Korea.

Statistics South Korea announced the results of the survey and the household population in 2015 South Korea on Wednesday (09/07/2016). The survey was carried out once 5 years to determine the number of residents, homes, and a fundamental characteristic in South Korea.

The population of South Korea reached 51.07 million people, up 2.7% compared to 2010, and the population density is in 3rd place among countries with a population over 10 million people, reaching 509 people for every square kilometer.

The total population in the municipality of Seoul reached 25.27 million people, or 49.5%. Free rapid aging of the population, so the number of people aged over 65 years reached 6.57 million people, or 13.2%. The number of foreign residents in South Korea rose 41.6% to 1.36 million people, compared to 2010, and the Chinese people are the most numerous.

Meanwhile, households inhabited 1 person reached 5,200.000 units or 27.2%. The figure was more than households inhabited 2 or 3 people. Number of household members reached an average of 2.53 people, or reduced to 0.15 people in 2010.
